Sync Services
Music sets the scene in any format - advertising, film, television, games and beyond. Additionally, a well-placed sync can break a new artist, revive an older song, and change an artist's life. DMG's team of sync experts know the intricacies of the licensing process and will assist you every step of the way.
Important things to note before you begin a sync clearance:
-
Every song has two sides – publishing and master recording. You will need to obtain permission to use the song from both the writers through their publishers and the copyright holders for the master recording through the label.
-
Much like sampling, sync placements are subjective because songs are personal. There are many artists who simply do not want their music or a certain song used, and we respect their right and artistic decision.
-
The sync clearance process is broken into two stages for each side (publishing and master recording) of a song:
-
Stage 1 services include researching all of the writers and corresponding labels for each of the titles requested, formal submission of requests, timely follow-ups, and negotiation of fees and terms.
-
Stage 2 services include closing all deals, trafficking licenses, facilitating payments and sending final reports.
